You need a professional pasting table. The pro tables really don’t cost much more than the “amateur” varieties; they’re a lot stronger; and they are far less likely to fall apart halfway through a delicate paste application. The thing about wall papering is this: it’s really fiddly. Aluminium pasting tables aren’t a bad bet, either. Aluminium has the dual advantages of being light and strong, which means it will last for more than a single decorating session. Aluminium tables are generally easy to store, too – folding away either whole or in sections for simple storage and transportation. Indeed, both the aluminium and Harris varieties are often used as a professional pasting table because of their combination qualities of simple storage and reliable strength. A Harris pasting table is made of hard wearing industrial quality plastic, and comes as a set of square table tops with separate legs. The whole thing is easy to build, and as versatile as the number of tops and legs you’ve bought – which means pasting in oddly shaped rooms or awkward spaces isn’t a problem.

Aluminium pasting tables are at a slight disadvantage in a quality comparison with something like a Harris. First, aluminium dents fairly easily (and a dented surface is hardly the thing for applying wallpaper paste to huge sheets of decorative wall covering); and second, unlike the plastic professional pasting table made by Harris, aluminium can’t be built into combinations of length and shape.

Either way, though, whether one opts for an aluminium model or a Harris pasting table, “going pro” is undoubtedly the way to fly. Professional quality tables are stronger, better and much longer lasting than their not very much cheaper counterparts. You have been warned!
